· Tuina (Traditional Chinese Massage)
What Is Tuina?
Tui na is a bodywork therapy that was developed in China over 2,000 years ago. It works with the energy system in the body known as the meridian system. Like Acupuncture, Tui na works with the Qi (chi) energy of the patient to bring a balanced state of health. But unlike, acupuncture, no needles are used. The work is done entirely with the practitioner's hands to help increase the beneficial flow of Qi through the patient's meridian system.
The practitioner of Tuina learns to diagnose the patient by feeling the pulse. The pulse tells the practitioner which meridians may need stimulation and which may need to be subdued in order to bring the patient to a state of balanced health.
What Are the Benefits of Tuina?
Chinese massage, also known as tuina, uses both acupressure and massage practices to massage the body. Acupressure is a technique that uses the mapping of meridians throughout the body to help bring the body's energies back into balance. What is Nuat Phaen Boran?Nuat Phaen Boran is a type of massage in Thai style that involves stretching and deep massage. This form of bodywork is usually performed on the floor, and the client wears comfortable clothes that allow for movement. No oils are used in Thai massage. Originating from Ayurveda and tracing back over 2,500 years ago, it draws from reflexology, passive yoga therapy and acupressure.
A technique that involves stretching using range of motion and yoga like poses, Thai massage is based on the Ayurvedic concept of the three doshas (elements). According to Ayurveda, each individual is composed of one or a combination of the three doshas of vata (air-ether), pitta (fire-water) and kapha (earth-water). Practitioners treat each person according to the tridoshas as related to individual constitution.
As a person is brought into a yoga posture during massage, one or all of the doshas is activated. Each pose is guided by Ayurvedic principles of constitution. A recipient’s energy is balanced by applying postures of the opposite nature, which strengthen the weaker dosha(s). Fast-paced individuals with a vata type would be treated with a slow, gentle massage. Pitta types would have relaxing, nonvigorous massage and kapha types, more earth-based individuals, would receive energetic massage.
The massage follows the Sen energy lines on the body, similar to Chinese meridians and Indian nadis. Compression and stretches are applied along ten of the central Sen lines to open and balance the flow of energy, assist the body’s self-healing properties, adjust skeletal structure, and increase flexibility.

What is Swedish Massage ?The term "Swedish Massage" refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. Swedish massage techniques include: long strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, percussion, vibration, effleurage, and shaking motions. The usually sequence of techniques are:
1. Effleurage: Gliding strokes with the palms, thumbs and/or fingertips
2. Petrissage: Kneading movements with the hands, thumbs and/or fingers
3. Friction: Circular pressures with the palms of hands, thumbs and/or fingers
4. Vibration: Oscillatory movements that shake or vibrate the body
5. Percussion: Brisk hacking or tapping
6. Passive and active movements: Bending and stretching

· Shiatsu (Traditional Japanes Massage)
Shiatsu is a style of bodywork developed in Japan. It is similar to acupuncture, but uses finger pressure instead of needles. Shiatsu's name comes from two Japanese words -- "shi" or finger and "atsu" or pressure. Shiatsu's goal is to restore the healthy flow of energy throughout the body.For shiatsu, you wear loose clothing. It is usually performed on a mat on the floor. The practitioner will use their fingers and thumbs to apply pressure to specific points on the body's energy pathways, known as meridiens. They often use other techniques such as rocking, stretches and joint rotations.Shiatsu treatment is holistic, addressing the whole body rather than focusing on the one area where symptoms are most obvious.
